An internship with us provides you with work experience in the real world of managing international development projects.  It will give you the opportunity to become familiar with the type of work and activities associated with an international career in this.  Interns are mentored and tasked with real challenges, including opportunities to contribute to proposal writing and provide input on live project portfolio.

We only take a limited number of summer interns per year and pay the minimum wage for these opportunities.

The LTS internship is open to graduates enrolled in post graduate studies who are skilled and enthusiastic in a field relevant to our work for approximately 8-10 weeks during the summer (June to September inclusive) to work on a range of consultancy projects in international development.

Successful applicants would be expected to participate actively in a range of project activities and work closely with LTS consultants.  They will develop their technical, research and analysis skills by working on projects and will gain experience working for and with development organisations.

Possible project involvement would depend on the successful applicants’ interest, skills and experience and the work available at the time.  Applicants should have a strong background in quantitative or qualitative analysis and research skills.

Key Skills and Requirements:

In order to be considered, candidates should consider the following minimum criteria:

  • Minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) in first degree in the natural sciences
  • Completed or enrolled in post graduate degree
  • The right to work in the UK for the duration of the internship
  • Previous relevant work experience (including internships or volunteering roles) would be beneficial as evidence of interest in International Development

The recruitment process will include:

  • A written test
  • Face to face interview

These are full-time positions during the summer. Interns will be based in our Edinburgh office and can expect to be paid the National Minimum Wage.  Candidates should be willing to undertake work-related travel to Africa, Asia, and other international locations if necessary.

An internship with LTS does not guarantee future employment.
