Mid Term Review of Participatory Forest Management for Medicinal Plant Production in Peru

A Mid Term Review of Darwin Initiative project 13-015 ‘Participatory forest management for medicinal plant production in Peru’ was conducted by ECTF with a field visit to Peru over the period of 25th of October 2nd of November 2005. The project was implemented by Environmental Change Institute (ECI) University of Oxford, in collaboration with the Centro EORI de Investigacion y Promocion Regional, and ten extension agents (promotores) from five communities in the Madre de Dios Region, in the Peruvian Amazon. In this highly participatory project, communities were an integral partner in the project’s design and planning processes such as the adaptation of a methodology for the sustainable management of medicinal plants growing in the wild.
