LTS at the UK Evaluation Society Conference: Using Realist Evaluation to Design and Implement Complex Interventions

The realist evaluation approach offers exciting opportunities for transferring findings to new contexts and informing the way future development interventions are designed and implemented. Despite this, there are few examples of how to use the realist approach to inform the ongoing design of development interventions. In our presentation, we explored the challenges and opportunities of using the findings from a realist evaluation to inform how an Ethiopian climate-resilience project was designed and implemented. The DFID project, called the Market-Approaches to Resilience, was implemented by Farm Africa and Mercy Corps with LTS conducting the evaluation. The project formed part of DFID programme called Building, Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Extremes and Disasters (BRACED).
