Ghana, Trade and Investment Programme – Export Assistance Component

LTS International undertook a study within the forest industry sector which covered:

  • The evaluation and selection of forest sector companies to join the export programme.
  • Matching client manufacturing facilities to potential export added value products with a focus on sawmill fallers.
  • Improving log conversion rates within client companies;
  • Market studies to identify opportunities for added value wood products from Ghanaian producers.
  • Identification of potential foreign buyers.

Evaluation of Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane Impact Assessment Study

From 1987 to 1992 the UK ODA conducted a research project to improve understanding of the environmental costs of DDT and other insecticides used in ground spraying operations against tsetse fly. LTS provided a staff ecologist to work with an economist to evaluate the policy and scientific impact of the research and assess the research methodology. The evaluation highlighted lessons relevant to other projects aiming to inform policy and natural resources research projects.
