Pat Hardcastle

Pat has over 35 years experience in forestry development and management, working with planted and natural forests for commercial and public-sector clients. His expertise encompasses forestry policy through planning and implementation to field practice, including research, education and training. Pat has been involved in several large-scale plantation development, natural forest management and afforestation programmes for public and private clients. He has work for several international aid agencies (including International Tropical Timber Organisation, World Bank, FAO and EU) as well as bilateral aid agencies (inc.UK, Switzerland) and government departments on issues of forest economics, business planning, and programme level monitoring and evaluation. He recently was the Team Leader on a high profile global evaluation of ten years of support to forest sector development for DIDC/Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland.

Pat spent 10 years university teaching in Oxford and Aberdeen running continuing education programmes as well as more formal teaching and examining. He has also been engaged in setting and examining professional qualifications.

Training has been an important part of much of his consulting work, with both specific assignments and less formal skills building and mentoring.

He has also worked for various NGOs and for the commercial sector.
