Benoit Rivard

Benoît has over 7 years of experience working across Sub-Saharan Africa for both NGOs and consulting firms in community-based natural resource management, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, project management, communications and enterprise development in the context of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Through his support and technical inputs on numerous LTS assignments, Benoît has built expertise in areas such as national REDD+ readiness processes, forest carbon project development, monitoring & evaluation, climate finance mechanisms, land use dynamics, enhancing community resilience to climate change and REDD+ cost elements.

Benoît’s focus and interest has been on better understanding climate change impacts and their influence on land use dynamics for smallholder farmer communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the mechanisms that finance interventions to address the related issues.

Previous to his joining LTS International, Benoît was Communications Director for a local NGO in Mali, where he spent a year designing and implementing a communications strategy, which included producing communications tools for projects like the $2 million rural electrification project based on jatropha oil.

He is fluent in French and English.
