Summary
RECOFTC developed a strategic programme to establish its basic direction as an institution concerned with supporting community forestry in the Asia-Pacific region. To ensure this programme could be implemented effectively an assessment and realignment of the organisation structure was critical.
Problem
Independent expert advice was sought to facilitate a delicate process and ensure the institutional structure aligned with the programme objectives.
Solution
Supporting an internal RECOFTC task force, an LTS organisational assessment specialist advised on RECOFTC's new organisational structure and necessary changes. Recommendations were provided on:
- the roles that need to be carried out to implement the programme,
- the support functions (such as management, information, administrative support, transport, logistics, finance, personnel), required to service the new programmes;
- staff positions required to carry out these functions; and- the functional structure of these roles.
Benefits
Under the leadership of a new Executive Director, RECOFTC have started to implement some of the required changes within their internal orangisation.
