Alex Sutton

DipSBP (Distinction) Sustainable Business Practice, Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, UK, 2013; MSc (Distinction) Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews, 2011; BA (Hons) Geography, University of Oxford, 2010.

Alex Sutton joined LTS in January 2015 and is currently focused on projects in the fields of forest governance, commodity supply chains and climate change.

Alex has worked for sustainability teams in the Energy, Transport, and Manufacturing Industries in both public and private sectors. He has developed expertise in supply chain assessments, resource efficiency, climate change mitigation and adaptation. Working for a government environmental regulator has also provided Alex with a detailed knowledge of environmental policies and regulations affecting businesses.

Alex’s focus is to further develop his expertise in forest-risk commodity supply chains. This is supported by the practical knowledge he gained from work in an arboretum and from his involvement in a forest management programme in East Africa, which stimulated his personal interest in forest management. He has also worked in South Africa, completing a conservation project for South Africa National Parks.

Alex has worked for a multinational food and beverage company and has a strong background in coffee and cocoa processing and manufacturing. He has also been involved in collaborative supply chain projects with major UK retailers.
