Alastair has over 18 years experience as a forest management planner and GIS specialist with expertise in decentralised planning, natural forest management and institutional strengthening. He specialises in applying participatory approaches for planning activities at community and strategic levels and support to government forestry departments with deconcentration of extension services. Using is practical knowledge, he has prepared training materials and manuals to support field-level activity. He is currently supervising the design process of large EC's programmes within the framework sector-wide action plans. Alastair recently was LTS Technical Advisor improving local forest governance and promoting collaborative partnerships on an EC-funded Social Forestry Training and Extension project in Malawi.
