New Contract: LTS to provide services to the UK Government’s Darwin Initiative for at least 2 more years

LTS International will be providing administration, monitoring and evaluation services to the UK’s Darwin Initiative through a 2 year contract with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). The Darwin Initiative is the UK Government’s flagship biodiversity conservation grant fund and has been funded since its launch at the Rio Convention in 1992. In the 22 years it has been running it has provided over £97M to 835 projects in 157 countries. Funded by DFID, Defra and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), it supports projects and organisations in Overseas Territories and developing countries. LTS commenced its new contract in February 2014.

LTS has supported the Darwin Initiative for over 10 years. “We deem it a great privilege to contribute to this hugely respected programme; it has a global Brand and a footprint that stretches across the five continents” LTS’ Managing Director, Paddy Abbot, said, adding …“with the inclusion of DFID as a Darwin Initiative co-funder, the importance of securing both biodiversity and development benefits has become more prominent; this includes combatting the illegal wildlife and endangered species trade. We will help guide this evolution through our administrative support for the programme and encouraging best practice for the projects.”
